Officers were sent to Putnam Residence Hall at 12:33 a.m. to respond to the odor of marijuana emanating from a student’s room. The student was cited for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and may also face discipline under the Student Code of Conduct and Community Standards.
Police observed a man with an open container of beer near Ballard Street and Emmet Street at 5:18 p.m. The man was cited for liquor violations and released.
May 3
Officers spotted a man urinating in an alley near East Cross Street at 2:36 a.m. The suspect was given a verbal warning and released.
May 5
Officers were called to the College of Business at 1:57 p.m. A student who could not register for a class because he lacked the necessary prerequisite courses became belligerent in the administrators’ office on the third floor. Police are following the matter up with the student and reporting the incident to the county prosecutor and the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
Officers were sent to the College of Business at 9:19 p.m. Damage to drywall near the administrators’ office on the third floor was observed. Police are investigating the matter further.
May 6
Police pulled a vehicle over for running a red light near Cross Street and Ballard Street at 1:33 a.m. The driver of the vehicle failed his field sobriety tests and was cited for operating with blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent or more and was lodged at Washtenaw County Jail. The passenger of the vehicle was found to have narcotic paraphernalia and marijuana in his or her possession and was cited and released. The vehicle was impounded.
May 7
Officers spotted a man walking in the roadway near Pearl Street and Adams Street at 10:40 p.m. The suspect was found to be a parolee and to have marijuana in his possession. The marijuana was sent to a laboratory to be tested and the suspect was processed and released.
