April 14

Officers impounded a car at the Plann Street Parking Lot that was using a photocopied hang tag at 10:33 a.m. The student who was using the fake hangtag was cited for fraud and may face charges from the County Prosecutor’s Office and the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Police followed a suspect to a home near Emmet Street and Ballard Street. The suspect refused to pull over after running a stop sign at 5:50 p.m. The suspect was arrested for fleeing and eluding and cited for resisting arrest when he became uncooperative with the arresting officer.

April 15

A student reported that he or she was a victim of identity theft at 12:26 p.m. The student had a credit card opened in his or her name without his or her permission. The police are investigating the incident.

A suspect was pulled over for running a stop sign near Mayhew Street and Cornell Court at 5:22 p.m. The smell of marijuana was coming from the vehicle and police discovered narcotics on the suspect’s person and in the vehicle. The suspect was cited for possession of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia and released.

April 16

Police pulled a suspect over for suspicion of driving while intoxicated at Olive Street and Adams Street at 2:28 a.m. The suspect refused to take a breath test and police obtained a warrant for blood work to be performed at the hospital. The suspect was arrested for operating while under the influence.

A student reported that his or her bicycle was stolen from Best Residence Hall at 1:38 p.m. The bicycle and lock were both stolen and police are investigating the incident further.

A student reported that they were being harassed via text messaging at 2:35 p.m. The student sending the text messages was warned verbally and no citations were issued. The offending student was reported to the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

A student reported that his or her iPhone was stolen in the Student Center at 5:17 p.m. The student briefly left his or her phone on a counter and discovered it missing. Police are investigating the incident further.

Officers observed a known trespasser on campus at 9:09 p.m. The suspect tried to flee the scene on his or her bicycle, but officers were able to make contact near Forest Street and Lowell Street.
The suspect was cited for trespassing.

Police found students smoking marijuana in the North Campus Parking Lot at 9:13 p.m. The police are submitting for a warrant against the students for possession of marijuana and narcotic equipment. The students may also face discipline under the Student Code of Conduct and Community Standards.

April 17

Officers responded to a complaint that students were smoking marijuana in a car in North Campus Parking Lot NE at 6:36 p.m. When the occupants of the vehicle opened the vehicle’s window to speak to the police, clouds of marijuana smoke billowed from the vehicle. The students were cited for possession of marijuana and possession of narcotic equipment and paraphernalia.

April 18

Police were sent to Buell Residence hall at 1:00 a.m. Student entering the hall smelled heavily of intoxicants and the officers found empty and partially empty cans of beer in the student’s room.
The student was referred to the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.
Officers observed a suspect acting strangely near an ATM at LeForge Road and Huron River Drive at 4:41 a.m. Upon further investigation it was found that the suspect was heavily intoxicated and was sent to the hospital via HVA. The suspect was cited for drunkenness.

Police performing a traffic stop near Ferris Street and Hamilton Street at 2:05 p.m. smelled the scent of marijuana coming from the suspect’s vehicle. Police discovered narcotic equipment and marijuana in the suspect’s possession, that the suspect was driving with a suspended license and that the suspect had existing warrants out for his or her arrest. The agency that issued the warrants chose not to come for the suspect and he or she was cited and released.

Officers stopped a driver for speeding near Huron Street and Lowell Street at 7:21 p.m. The officers discovered that the suspect had a felony warrant for his or her arrest issued from Ohio. After arresting the suspect, officers discovered marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia in the suspect’s possession. The suspect was charged and held at the sheriff’s department awaiting extradition to Ohio.

Police reported to Downing Residence Hall at 11:54 p.m. A suspect was passed out in a room, and after being woken began to vomit. The suspect was sent to the hospital via HVA and charged with minor in possession and possession of narcotic equipment. The student may also face discipline under the Student Code of Conduct and Community Standards.

Officers were called to College Place and Cross Street because of an escalating argument between two individuals. Upon arrival one suspect fled the scene while the other remained behind. The suspect who fled the scene was cited for trespassing and the suspect who did not flee was cited for drunkenness.
