14 shots fired in downtown Ypsilanti

Fourteen gunshots were fired in downtown Ypsilanti early Monday morning following a rap battle at the Riverside Arts Center. No one was injured.

Ypsilanti police Detective Sgt. Tom Eberts told MLive police responded to the gunshots at Washington Street and Pearl Street around 1:45 a.m. after receiving several reports.

According to MLive, a woman told investigators that she saw someone firing shots in the parking lot across the street for Riverside Arts Center, but could not see if the shooter was aiming at anyone.

It is still unknown if the shooter was targeting anyone or firing randomly, and Eberts told MLive no local hospitals reported any patients with gunshot wounds.

police have yet to get a good description of the shooter.
