EMU point guard cruises as MAC West Player of the Week

Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball guard Raven Lee was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, the league office on Dec. 16. It was the first time the Detroit native has won the award in his career.

Lee led the Eagles to a 67-58 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay at home on Dec. 10. Lee had a team-high 17 points, which ranks as the third-most his career.

Lee shot 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from the floor in the victory, while knocking down 80.0 percent (8-of-10) of his free throw attempts.
In addition to his outstanding scoring effort, the combo-guard pulled down three rebounds, dished out a pair of assists and picked the Phoenix’s pocket once on the way to a perfect record last week.

Eastern Michigan continues its 11-day hiatus before returning to the court on Dec. 21, when the team travels to Rochester for its 10th game of the 2013-14 campaign.

EMU will take on Oakland University at the Athletics Center O’rena with the tip-off between the Eagles and Golden Grizzlies slated for 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
