An Eastern Michigan University student reported being sexually assaulted in her Hill Hall dorm room Friday.
According to The Ann Arbor News, the assault happened after a Halloween party, the assailant was not an EMU student and the victim knew him.
No timely warning email was sent to EMU students alerting them to the crime.
This is the third separately reported sexual assault to occur on campus in as many weeks. The previous two assaults happened on Oct. 20 in Putnam Hall. EMU students did not receive timely warning emails for either of those cases.
When the lack of warnings for those two cases was brought up during a public safety forum held in EMU’s Student Center, President Susan Martin had called it “an embarrassment,” but explained that timely warnings did not apply to those cases because the victims knew their assailants and the police had already either arrested them or knew where to find them.
