Just Arts and Music has first of many open mic nights

The art and performance based student organization Just Arts and Music, or JAM, will be holding the first of its monthly open mic nights on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 9 p.m. in room 300 of the Student Center.

Artists of all talents and skill levels are welcome.

If you wish to perform, simply arrive when doors open and someone should be standing by to take down your information. From there, the organization’s president, Dylan Croasdill, and vice-president, Sean Ruona, will make the set list for the performance on the spot.

On average, performers get about eight minutes of time on stage depending on how large the audience and because of the low-key set up, the event has a low-stress, down-to-earth vibe.

The organization was the brainchild of graduate Seth Weddle who, along with many other students, began performing on the dining stage in the Student Center.

Last year they become an official student organization and the torch has been passed down to Ruona and Croasdill, who continue to give students an outlet to showcase their crafts.

The event has many musicians, artists and poets who are regulars, but the event has featured dancers, comedians and magicians. They encourage all to come out and share their talent.
