Dear incoming freshmen and transfer students at Eastern Michigan University,
I would like to take a moment and welcome you to EMU. Here at EMU, there are 19 different men’s and women’s varsity teams and a number of club sports including Quidditch and Lacrosse. We cover all those sports here at The Eastern Echo.
We need your help to give all these teams a voice every week.
Our staff is comprised of students who came here as freshmen or transferred here, just like you are. I, myself, came as a transfer student from Macomb Community College. On behalf of the entire Echo editorial board and staff, I would like to invite you to come join our family.
Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in journalism or are looking for a way to make some extra money, we are always looking to bring people on board.
During the fall and winter, our paper comes out twice a week: Monday and Thursday. In addition, we have our own website (easternecho.com) where you can find stories that are already in the paper, and online exclusives that you won’t find anywhere else.
To find us, simply come to the second floor of King Hall, where our offices are located, or send me an email at sports@easternecho.com, and I will gladly get you started on the process of joining the Echo family.
