Late Wednesday, the Eastern Michigan University athletic department announced the departure of Athletic Director Dr. Derrick Gragg to become the AD at Tulsa University in Tulsa, Okla.
Gragg had been AD at EMU since 2006.
In a release issued by the university, President Dr. Susan Martin issued the following statement.
“Dr. Gragg has had an outstanding impact at Eastern Michigan University since arriving in 2006,” Martin said. “He has led student-athlete success on the playing field and in the classroom. In fact, the Fall 2012 cumulative GPA for all student-athletes was the department’s highest ever at 3.201. This is a wonderful opportunity for Dr. Gragg and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future.”
Gragg will be introduced as the Tulsa AD in a press conference at 2 p.m. (CST) Friday.
No immediate replacement has been announced yet, but Assistant AD’s Dr. Melody Reifel-Werner and and Mike Malach will likely be assuming his duties until a replacement can be found.
