An Eastern Michigan University student and his visitors were robbed while leaving an apartment in the Westview complex, located on the northwest side of campus, at 1:30 a.m. Friday.
According to an email from the EMU Police Department, the student and his guests were approached by two suspects who implied they had a weapon, which was not seen, and then took jewelry, cell phones and clothing from the victims.
The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown direction, the release said. The EMU police responded and the area was searched with the assistance of Ypsilanti police. The suspects were not located and no injuries were reported.
Lt. Daniel Karrick of the EMU police department said the robbery was not a random incident, and the student’s guests may have been involved with the incident. The police department gave no further details regarding the case.
The release said the suspects were described by the victims: One was a light-skinned black male, 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing a dark hoodie sweatshirt and dark pants. The other suspect was described as a dark-skinned black male, 6 feet tall, thin build, wearing dark clothing, a hoodie sweatshirt and a dark knit cap.
