Students and personnel were temporarily evacuated from Eastern Michigan University’s Snow Health Center at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14. Fire and police were called in response to a suspicion of fire.
Several people within the building noticed an unusual burning smell permeating through the building. According to police on the scene, the smell originated from electrical issues within the building.
Ellen Gold, director of Health Services at EMU, said, “All the proper procedures were taken to ensure people’s safety.”
Electricians were called to inspect the building but Gold has given assurance that there is no immediate danger.
