Ypsilanti railroad workers walking their routine patrol found a dead body at 9:25 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. The man was hit and killed by a passing train near Forest Avenue.
The man was not carrying any identification, but was later identified by police as 65-year-old Tom McGuire of Ypsilanti Township.
The Ypsilanti Police Department ruled the death as an accident.
McGuire’s family said he liked walking along the railroad tracks, according to a report on AnnArbor.com.
The police have narrowed down the search to two possible trains heading through Ypsilanti at the time, but neither crew reported hitting a man on the tracks.
