Eastern Michigan University’s Physical Plant spent about $96 million on campus renovations over the summer, which includes the following:
Additions and renovations to the science complex.
Installation of six NCAA tennis courts and relocation of NCAA track and field throws area.
Installation of three new HVAC units and replacement of windows and exterior doors in the Rackham Building.
New furniture, carpet, paint, shower valves, lobby finishes and bathroom finishes in Hoyt Hall.
Redesign and installation of asphalt parking lot (123 spaces) including adjacent sidewalks, irrigation and landscaping in the McKenny Hall Parking Lot.
Installation of a structural steel frame and decorative metal siding screening panel at the Porter College of Educatin Building.
Exterior panels painted and installation of a canopy sign in Sill Hall.
Miscellaneous interior painting in Pease Auditorium.
Installation of the backup generator interconnection equipment for the tower lights on the east side of Rynearson Stadium.
Cooling tower repair in the College of Business’ Owen building.
Absorber solution motor and pump repair in Halle library
Installation of new cooling tower controls in the Alexander and Pierce buildings.
HVAC control upgrades in Porter Hall, Team Building and Marshall Hall.
Fence installation for Alexander Music Building and on Oakwood Street.
Stairwell painting for Owen Parking Lot.
Sweeping, sealing and striping of parking lots.
Installation of six additional parking spaces near Jones residence Hall.
In the future, McKenny Hall should be receiving stairwell modifications, installation of a new fire suppression system and acoustic improvements in the ballroom. In the indoor practice facility, a new tennis and soccer locker room facility and new additional parking spaces will be installed. Quirk, Sill, Alexander, Sherzer and Rackham will receive new roofs and Best Hall will get interior improvements.
