May 24 – A vehicle was reported stolen at 9:30 p.m. from the Convocation Center parking lot. The theft occurred between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
A screen window was cut at 10:21 p.m. at Best Hall.
May 25- A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle at 10:55 a.m. at Cornell Court Apartments. The theft occurred between 4 p.m. on May 23 and 5:30 p.m. on May 24.
A laundry window was pried open at 11:05 a.m. at Cornell Court Apartments.
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle at 11:47 a.m. at Cornell Court Apartments. The theft occurred between 2:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on May 24.
May 26 – A subject was arrested, for failure to appear, at 1:44 a.m. on Oakwood Street.
May 28 -A subject was arrested, for failure to appear, at 10:09 p.m. on Oakwood Street.
May 29 – A subject was found with a small amount of suspected marijuana at 1:04 a.m. at the Village Building B.
May 30- A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle at 2:08 p.m. at Oakwood Parking Lot South. The theft occurred between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on May 24.
Local
A burglary occurred between May 24 and May 28 at Rod’s Barber Shop in the 1400 block of Ecorse Road. Entry was gained by forcing open the front door. It is unknown what was stolen and no suspects have been identified.
May 29 – A shooting occurred in the area of Desoto and Jeff avenues in Ypsilanti Township at 11:15 p.m. A male is in critical condition but is expected to recover, and a female suffered a non-life threatening injury. Motive is unknown at this time, but it appears the shooting was not a random act of violence.
A 10-year-old male was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital after a near drowning at 4:30 p.m. at Independence Lake. The child was pulled to shore by other children who were swimming. It was noticed that he was not responsive and adults were unable to detect a pulse or breathing. An adult in the area with medical experience and Independence Lake life guards performed CPR and were able to bring back a pulse and breathing. The child is in critical but stable condition.
May 30 – Three male suspects, ages 19, 17 and 16, were arrested at approximately 8:20 p.m. in a wooded area north of Holmes Road in Ypsilanti Township. A citizen reported seeing the males carrying items including a TV and a guitar, and deputies observed the suspects carrying the items in the woods and initiated a foot pursuit after the males fled. Home invasion and victim’s address were confirmed. Stolen items were recovered in the woods and in the suspects’ pockets.
A subject with a shotgun wound was brought to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital at 11:20 p.m. An investigation revealed that the incident occurred in the 8000 block of Nottingham Drive, Superior Township. The 19-year-old victim is an Ypsilanti City resident and is in stable condition at this time. Information indicates that the shooting is related to a shooting on May 29, and was not a random act.
