EMU football team rocks new, lighter uniforms

The Eastern Michigan football team will be debuting new uniforms for the upcoming fall season.

The new uniforms were revealed June 22 and are made of a new, lighter material called Techfit from Adidas. The jerseys are 30 percent lighter than their predecessors, and head coach Ron English picked the design.

The uniforms will consist of less material and a tighter fit. There are three different jerseys, in green, gray and white. The pants are a new beltless design to help the players with mobility and will also come in green, gray and white.

With the new jersey designs and color schemes, there will be over 20 different variations and combinations the team will be able to wear. The team will retain its same signature helmet with the block “E,” and keep the helmets green for home and white for away.

The football team asked Eagle fans to vote for one of four jersey combinations for the team to wear against Toledo on October 13. Go to www.emueagles.com to register your vote.

The home opening for the season will be against Illinois State at Rynearson Stadium on September 8.
