Randy Stewart teaming up with EMU football coach

March 13, Ron English, head coach of Eastern Michigan University’s football team, announced Randy Stewart will be joining the Eagles’ coaching staff as the linebackers’ coach.

Stewart comes to EMU from Fresno State University, where he served as a
defensive coordinator, working specifically with the defensive backs. He coached one of the best pass efficiency defenses in the nation while at FSU. He coached a number of student athletes who earned multiple All-Western Athletic Conference honors and a defense that was ranked second in the WAC, holding opponents to 208.77 yards in the air.

Fifty-three-year-old Stewart graduated from Boise State University in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. While at BSU, he was a two-year letter winner in football and led the team in interceptions during his senior year.

Stewart has also served as a coach at BSU, California Polytechnic State University, the University of Nevada and the University of California.
