Men deliver at track and field invitational

After two days, the Meyo Invitational that featured more than 1,600 competitors finished.

Eastern Michigan competed in the Meyo Invitational for the sixth consecutive year. The Eagles’ men’s track team had a strong individual showing.

Sophomore Grzegorz Kalinowski had the second best time in the 1,000 meter run.

Kalinowski finished with a time of 2:22.76.

Eastern had a good outing in the 3,000 meter run, as well.

Freshman Ian Hickle finished first (8:24.86) and freshman Harry Dixon finished right behind Hickle in second place (8:27.22). Junior James Hughes placed 11th (8:38.73).
In the 1-mile run, Eastern had senior Cole Sansverino finish second (4:08.16) and senior Austin Hendrix sixth (4:10.50).

Freshman Cam Bolton finished third place in the 200-meter dash (21.58) and junior Jairus Saunders placed seventh (21.92).

In the second from last event in the Meyo Invitational, the 3,000-meter run, junior Terefe Ejigu finished fourth (8:01.80).

Overall, it was a strong showing for Eastern Michigan and it will be looking to carry that into the next meet, the Grand Valley State University “Big Meet” in Allendale, Mich., on Friday and Saturday.
