The Eastern Michigan men and women’s track and field teams competed this past weekend at the Silverston Invite. The invite was held at the University of Michigan.
The women had good standings at the meet, with the men also seeing some good performances. The women had nine top-five performances at the meet, including four second-place finishes.
Second place finishers were junior Rosie White, with a long jump distance of 18-feet 5.75-inches, freshman Ebony Mundy in the triple jump event (32-feet 10.25 inches) and Danielle Clark in the 60-meter dash (7.65 seconds) and 200-meter dash (24.78 seconds).
Beverly Elcock finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.23 seconds. Brooke Scuillo finished with a time of 2:20.84, which was good for fifth place in the 800-meter run.
Kate Wolanin finished third in the high jump event. Meghan Powers and Jennifer Schornak took fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the pole vault. Tiara Oates took fourth in the long jump event and Angela Scarber took fifth place in the weight throw.
For the men, Fontaine Holland earned a personal record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.68 seconds, which earned him second place. David Papenhagan finished in fifth place in the 400-meter with a time of 51.98 seconds. Josh George and Chris Hall finished second and third place in the 600-meter run with times of 1:20.96 and 1:21.04, respectively. In the 800-meter run, Moise Frisch took third place (1:54.37).
Three runners finished top ten in the mile run; Warren Witchell (4:19.27), Cameron Trinh (4:24.30) and Cody Chabola (4:24.69). Levi Selig took third place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.14 seconds.
The Eastern Michigan team of Selig, George, Hall and Holland took first place in the 4×400 relay.
Max Babits finished fourth in pole vault while Robert Tarpley finished fifth in the
long jump event. Aaron Davis and Anthony Bradley claimed first and second place, respectively, in the triple jump and Teron Turner took fifth in the weight throw.
This was Eastern Michigan’s last meet before the MAC Championships on Feb. 24 and 25 in Akron, Ohio.
