Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule and will continue in February.
The Eagles had top-ten finishes in each of their four tournaments this season. They also came in seventh in the Irish Gridiron Golf Classic and the Windon Memorial tournaments.
EMU’s best performance came in the Windon Memorial, where it posted 865 strokes, and sophomore Brian Churchill-Smith came in eighth place. Overall, the Eagles improved throughout the season as their scores lowered each tournament.
In the first tournament the Eagles played in was the Northern Intercollegiate. They finished 10th out of 17 and shot a cumulative score of 915. Brian Churchill-Smith came in 17th, which was the top score for the Eagles. The University of Central Florida won the tournament with a record-setting score of 870.
The second tournament of the fall, the Irish Gridiron Golf Classic, would see EMU coming in seventh out of 12 with 887 strokes.
Sophomore Jared Dalga was the top Eagle as he came in third with 212. That would be his first top-five finish and the first time in the season he would finish in third. Saint Mary’s and Houston would tie for the win in the tournament with 870.
The Firestone Intercollegiate was the third tournament, and Eastern came in 10th out of 17 with 873. Dalga would come in third for the second tournament in a row and posted his best performance of his career with 210 strokes. Indiana and St. Mary’s tied in this one with 854.
The Irish Gridiron Golf Classic was the last tournament. Churchill-Smith would card his best performance of his career with 228. Arkansas would win the tournament with 847.
The Eagles will continue their season with Mid-American Conference Match Play, which starts on Feb. 13 in Dade City Florida.
