Volleyball falls for the third-straight match

The Eastern Michigan volleyball team lost a non-conference match 3-2 Tuesday to host Indiana Purdue University Ft. Wayne.

The Eagles dropped the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-16. They won the third and fourth, both by 25-23, and lost the last set 15-11.

EMU is 13-6 and the Mastodons are 11-7.

The Eagles were led by juniors Rachel Iaquaniello and Kristen Baker. Iaquaniello had 13 kills, one ace, nine digs, and three blocks. Baker contributed 12 kills, one dig and seven blocks. Senior Haley Stein had two kills and a team-high 22 digs for the Eagles while senior setter Ashley Mason had five kills, 44 assists, 12 digs and one block.

For the Mastodons, freshman Emily Spencer had 29 kills and nine digs. Junior Megan Steenhuysen had three kills, one ace, 64 assists, 12 digs and one block. Junior Tessa McGill had 32 digs for IPFW.

The Eagles will face the Toledo Rockets (6-10, 1-3 MAC) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Convocation Center.
