Over 1,500 books were donated by the State of Michigan to EMU’s Historic Preservation program.
Faculty, staff and students of the program transported the books from the State of Michigan’s Library in Lansing to EMU’s Halle Library Friday morning.
The hardcover books ranged in topic from architecture to fine art to history. The contribution was highly anticipated and is expected to increase undergraduate and graduate students’ research and training in the university’s historic program, which is one of the largest in the country.

According to a recent report on security and fire safety released by EMU’s Department of Public Safety, campus burglaries have dropped significantly.
From 2009-2010, incidents involving the crime decreased 31 percent. This is part of a trend that dates back to 2008. The greatest reduction continues to be in resident halls and apartments.
