The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team won its fifth straight match by overcoming the Bulls of Buffalo in a quick fashion, defeating them in 3 straight sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-22).
With the win, the Eagles improve to (18-6). This was a MAC conference game and with the victory tonight the Eagles improve to (6-3) in conference play.
The Eagles went back and forth with the Bulls in the first set but good offense by Kristen Baker, Ashley Mason, Paige Roback and Erin short, who each had one kill a piece, got the Eagles back into the rhythm, never letting the Bulls get back within reach.
In the second match the Eagles dominated from start to finish. EMU jumped to a quick six-point lead but then the Bulls started to come back. The Eagles regained their composure and pulled out the win easily. Rachel Iaquaniello had six kills in the second match while Short chipped in three more. Mason totaled 21 assists after the second match.
The Eagles struggled at the beginning of the third set. The Bulls went on an early run to get ahead 6-0, until the Eagles came back fighting and took the set in a dramatic fashion.
Iaquaniello and Roback brought the Eagles back into the match with 4 kills each; Mason added 11 more assists.
The Eagles’ next match is tomorrow against the Zips of Akron at 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center while they host their Dig Pink match. Everyone who wears pink to the game will be given free admission.
