EMU downward slide continues

Soccer yet to recover from losing streak

The Eastern Michigan University soccer team was unable to climb out of a recent drought it has been in after taking a 2-0 loss to Western Kentucky University on Sunday, September 11.

The Eagles have lost five straight games putting their record at 0-5-1 while WKU advances to 5-2-0.

The Hilltoppers scored at both the 57th and 78th minutes on a pair of tallies from senior Mallory Outerbridge .

The first half was a tug-of-war as neither team was able to register much offense, putting up a combined five shots on goal.

Freshman Angela The Hilltoppers opened the second half with a goal from Outerbridge followed by another, her sixth of the season, with 12 minutes left to play.

Vultaggio led the Eagles with three shots while goalie Maggie Manville made eight saves for EMU.

EMU will prepare for its first home game since the season opener on Aug. 13.

They will face Illinois State at 4 p.m. Friday at Scicluna Field.
