EMU campus switches bank

Chase Bank will open a branch in Eastern Michigan University’s Student Center in a space previously housed by TCF Bank.

A release sent out by the bank said students can expect to see bankers moved in completely by mid – October.

The branch will have two teller windows, an ATM, lobby workstations for personal bankers and two customer conference rooms, according to the release.

The bank plans to install five walk-up ATMs on campus including one at the new branch and on the second floor in the Student Center, one in Pray-Harrold, one in the Eastern Eateries and one in the REC-IM building.

Carl McWherter, who manages 122 Chase branches in Michigan, said in a statement the bank will help students manage their finances so they can focus on the challenges of the new academic year.

“Chase makes paying college expenses easier for parents and students by setting up linked accounts,” McWherter said. “ Perhaps most importantly, that allows mom and dad to transfer money easily to a student.”

The branch will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
