As of June 28, head coach Rob Murphy announced the newest addition to the Eastern Michigan University men’s basketball team is Daylen Harrison.
The 6-foot-6 transfer comes to EMU from the University of Wyoming. While at Wyoming, Harrison played in 55 games making six starts. He averaged 3.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. He shot a career-best 17 points in a 67-66 win over New Mexico on January 8, 2011.
The Akron, Ohio native graduated from St. Vincent-St. Mary’s high school where, as a senior, he averaged 17.2 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He shot 49.8 percent from the floor with a 35.6 mark beyond the three-point line and helped lead his squad to the Ohio Division II State Championship where he netted 21 points en route to being named MVP of the Ohio State tournament.
Harrison also put in a lot of work off of the court, earning a 4.2 GPA throughout his high school career. He was a member of the National Honor’s Society and received the St. Vincent-St. Mary’s Manhood Award. He also gave back to the Ohio community, volunteering with the Head Start program as well as his local church.
Harrison will sit out the 2011-12 season as a transfer, after which, he will have 2 years of eligibility with the Eagles.
