The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team showed its commitment to the community this past week by volunteering at the Ypsilanti SOS’s Housing Crisis Center.
This is the second consecutive year that the team has volunteered some of its time helping at the center.
There were a total of 34 student-athletes who unloaded the Focus Hope food delivery truck, which comes on the first Tuesday of every month from June to August.
The duties of the team were to unload truckloads of food, bag and separate the food into distribution amounts, organize and shelf food for those in need and help with cleanup.
According to head Coach Derek DelPorto, the team plans to continue helping the center on every first Tuesday of the summer.
