Politics have always been a major part of the news, but lately we’ve been hearing about it a lot more; news about mass uprisings against oppressive regimes and corrupt leaders has been pouring out the Middle East.
All these news reports have only served to further solidify my opinion: clearly, politicians need a refresher course of kindergarten.
Remember your kindergarten days? In addition to squealing about cooties, sniffing scented markers and playing duck-duck-goose, we were also taught valuable life-long lessons. Among them were: share, play nice, be fair and never run with scissors.
Clearly, the world leaders have forgotten these golden rules, which is why the world is in such turmoil.
So, I propose that all the world leaders be sentenced to a minimum of 10 years of kindergarten, to relearn these important life skills and thus bring back some common sense and sanity to the world.
Imagine a world where we didn’t start wars with other nations because we didn’t like them or because they had something we wanted.
Imagine a world where people who threw tantrums were scolded and not allowed to carry on just because something didn’t go their way.
Imagine if we could actually share resources or get along with others without overemphasizing trivial things like people being “different.”
Those were the days, when you could be friends with someone five minutes after you met and be content jumping rope together during recess.
It’s really a shame the state of nations and the whole world is a result of politics, or, more accurately, the result of the unruly emotions of overgrown toddlers in positions of power.
But, I look forward to the day when our politicians and leaders remember the key lessons we learned back in the day. I look forward to the day when we can cooperate with others, be open-minded and make friends with new people and lead content lives in a peaceful world.
It might be naïve, but it’s something worth praying for.
