Round-up: Women's track team places first in Toledo meet

Eastern Michigan University finished first at the Toledo collegiate challenge Saturday with a score of 164. Buffalo was next (150.50).

The Eagles swept the board in the pole vault (Jessica Hemmingway [3.85m], Meghan Powers [3.5m], Rebecca Richman [3.5m]), and took first in the triple jump (Shnell Wishart [11.5m]), 200-meter dash (Ashlee Abraham [26.16 seconds]), 400 and hurdles (Asia Rawls[57.67 seconds, 1:01.39 minutes]), 800 (Lauren Quaintance[2:11.07]), 3000 (Rachel Quaintence [10:10.42]) and three relay events .

Men’s track

The EMU men’s track team landed in the top three of the Toledo collegiate challenge with a score of 160, five points behind second-place Buffalo. Central Michigan University had the top score of 250.

Matt Hammersmith and Nick Petro gave the Eagles a 1-2 finish in the Steeplechase along with first-place finishes from Max Babits (pole vault), Andrew Meyer (shot put) and Brycen Spratling (400).

NCAA Gymnastics Regionals

Nikole Viltz posted a 9.675 on the vault at the NCAA Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Saturday.
Viltz placed third among individual competitors.
