Roundup: Wrestling falls short in Dec.

Women’s track posts 84-55 at holiday dual

Wrestling

Eastern Michigan University wrestling hasn’t won a meet since Dec. 3, but not for a lack of trying.
The Eagles took on two ranked opponents in December, No. 9 Northwestern, and No. 24 Missouri, and their other dual meet loss came to the Big Ten’s Indiana.

Most recently, the Eagles tied for 25th at the Midlands Championships on Dec. 30 in Evanston, Ill.

Aaron Sulzer, a 157-pounder, was the only Eastern grappler who advanced on to the second day, after going 3-1 on day one of the tournament.

On day two Sulzer was eliminated from the consolation bracket in his first match of the day, falling to Bryan Deutsch, of Northern Illinois.

The Eagles will open up the new year Jan. 8 in East Lansing at the Spartan duals hosted by Michigan State University.

Indoor Track
The Eastern Michigan Women’s track team opened up its season just before students went on break.
The Eagles hosted the Eagle-Rocket holiday dual meet Dec. 10 and saw the Eagles open the season on a positive note, posting an 84-55 win over the University of Toledo.

The Eagles took 12-of-14 during the meet, and sophomore Asia Rawls posted a record time for the 500-meter run of 1 minute, 14 seconds.

The Eagles will next host the EMU open on Saturday at Bowen Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Ashlee Abraham won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.04 and junior ReJeana Marigna, took home first place in the 300-meter run with a time of thirty-nine minutes, fifty-nine seconds.
