Police seek man after fatal shooting in Ypsilanti Township

A 28-year-old man was pronounced dead Saturday after Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported gunshot victim in the 5000 block of Bosuns Way in Ypsilanti Township.

Keywone Jarvis Walker, 22, is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting, which happened 8:30 p.m. Saturday near Huron River Drive near Ford Lake. He is described by the media release as 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office detectives have already arrested two other people in connection with the shooting. They are both being held at the Washtenaw County Jail.

“We’re still investigating and trying to find out what the motive was,” said Derrick Jackson, community engagement director for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. “They (the victim and the suspects) clearly knew each other. How well they knew each other or what their relationship was is still being determined.”

Washtenaw County prosecutors are seeking more evidence before bringing charges against the two suspects being held. Police said they were unsure of the extent of the charges as of yesterday.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to help locate Walker. His area of residence was not given, but police said he is known to frequent the Ypsilanti area.
