The Ypsilanti Police Department said the sexual assault, which was reported to have happened in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Cornell Street in Ypsilanti, actually occurred outside the City of Ypsilanti and not near the Eastern Michigan University campus.
Police reached this conclusion after further investigating the assault, which reportedly occurred last Thursday, according to a release to the EMU community.
The release also said the sketch of the suspect and the description of the suspect’s vehicle are invalid.
The case was referred to another jurisdiction to further be investigated, but the release did not say which jurisdiction.
The Ypsilanti Police Department could not be reached for further comment last night on the new information in this case.
