The Eagles locked up their third consecutive first place finish this weekend at the Notre Dame cross-country invitational.
Four Eagles placed in the top ten, led by sophomore Terefe Ejigu who finished in second place, with a time of 24 minutes, 52 seconds. This was a 47-second improvement over his time at the same event last year.
Volleyball went 1-1 this weekend. The eagles won at Toledo 3-1, and losing at Ball state 0-3.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Iaquaniello led EMU (16-4, 3-1 MAC) past the Toledo Rockets on Friday. She posted 27 kills and teamed with Junior Ashley Mason (51 assists) to defeat the Rockets 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20).
Ianquaniello’s 27 kills is the fourth-most posted by a Mid-American Conference player this season and the most in a four-set match since 2006.
On Saturday Volleyball was unable to win a set, despite the Paige Roback’s seventh career double-double (11 kills, 18 digs) against the Ball State Cardinals.
Eastern Michigan has a busy week at home when they take on IPFW tomorrow and divisional rival Western Michigan on Friday and Saturday against Northern Illinois.
The Eagles placed 14th out of 20 over the weekend at the Adidas Invitational at the University of Wisconsin. Courtney Calka was the Eagles’ best runner, placing 10th with a time of 20:31.
