DEXTER—Both Eastern Michigan’s cross-country teams were in action Saturday at the Fall Classic hosted by the Eagles and Hudson Mills Metropark. The Fall Classic gathered men’s and women’s runners from around Michigan, including several from EMU.
Poland native Grzegorz Kalinowski landed his first-career first place finish with a time of 15 minutes, 28.5 seconds.
Also placing in the top 10 on the men’s side was Cody Chabola (15:40), EMU alum Curtis Vollmar placed eighth (15:42), senior Ransom Brown (15:43.2) and Matt Wines finished ninth and 10th place.
Beverly Elcock (19:32) is working her way back from knee surgery. She ran unattached and finished 43rd. Beth Zimpfer (19:48), Kaitlin Fenech (19:57), Lauren Lunsford (20:08) and Brooke Sciullo (20:51) also finished the race.
Both teams will return to Mid-American Conference action Oct. 30th in Three Rivers, Mich. The women’s 6,000-meter event will start at 11 a.m. and the men’s 8,000-meter event will start at noon.
