On Nov. 12 the Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team will open its schedule at home for the first time in three years, against Loyola.
EMU will also take on national-power Ohio State Nov. 14, and play in the Jack in the Box rainbow Wahine classic Nov.19. Mid-American Conference play opens up Jan. 5 against divisional opponent Northern Illinois.
Eastern Michigan men’s basketball is donating $2,500 to the volleyball team’s fight to raise money for breast cancer awareness. For Coach Charles Ramsey this cause hits home, after losing his mother-in-law to breast cancer this past year.
“Women touch our lives everyday,” Ramsey told emueagles.com. “We all have mothers, wives, sisters or daughters and that is why I thought it was important to support a cause like this.”
At 7 p.m. on Oct. 17, the volleyball team will have its “Dig Pink” match for breast cancer against Bowling Green.
The Eastern Michigan volleyball team swept Wright State on Tuesday 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-16). The win stretches EMU volleyball’s win streak to four games.
EMU will face MAC Conference opponent Toledo on the road at 7 p.m. Friday, then head to Ball State on Saturday where first serve is also 7 p.m.
EMU football will be hosting the school’s homecoming game Saturday at noon. The Eagles (0-4) will take on the Ohio Bobcats (1-3) in a MAC showdown. The Eagles are looking for their first win in 16 games, after last week’s 73-20 loss at Ohio State. The Bobcats fared a little better than the Eagles against Ohio State losing 47-3 in their game with the Buckeyes. The Eagles are 43-47-2 all-time in homecoming games and have won three of their last five homecoming games. The noon kickoff will be on ESPN regional.
Senior golfer Nick Carbary was able to tie for 24th at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic in South Bend, Ind. As a team, the Eagles finished ninth out of 14 teams shooting an 888 (297-293-298).
