Two Eastern Michigan University students have been arrested in the armed robbery of another Eastern student.
The Ypsilanti Police Department found the abduction and robbery reported Tuesday by two Eastern students turned out to be a set-up. One of the alleged victims and the main suspect have been arrested and are currently in Washtenaw County jail.
The original incident occurred Tuesday morning at 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Cross St. The two alleged victims were a car when a suspect jumped into their vehicle and pulled out a silver revolver. According to the alleged victims, the suspect held the individuals at gunpoint as they drove to two ATMs to withdraw money for the suspect.
Later, both alleged victims were interviewed by the Ypsilanti police. According to Sergeant Kevin Dorsey, upon questioning, the second victim was found to be a suspect as well and was arrested. The original suspect with the revolver was arrested as well and the police found the two suspects had collaborated in robbing the victim.
Arraignment for the suspects is set for Thursday.
