When a new president takes office in the United States, I want that person to do well. It doesn’t matter if he/she is a Republican or Democrat, as long as the country benefits. This current administration, however, has me wondering what the agenda is. President Barack Obama has been associated with, or has surrounded himself with, several people who are just plain scary.
Start with Obama’s former pastor of 20 years, the “Reverend” Jeremiah Wright and his shouting of “God damn America” (the president finally distanced himself after some pressure). Then there’s green czar Van Jones and his radical communist views (see his book “The Green Collar Economy”). After being exposed to the public, he resigned.
Or how about Obama’s nomination for regulation czar Cass Sunstein, who thinks hunting should be banned and a person’s organs should be donated automatically after he/she dies (brings to mind the movie “Coma”). I hope he does not try to pass bills concerning these beliefs.
Millions would agree changes to the health care system need to be made, but what was the rush to pass the bill so quickly without it being fully understood? People wanted answers but were not treated with much respect. It is good to see things have slowed down a little with some discussion going on. People want to know the details.
While campaigning for office, Obama promised a group of community organizations they would be the ones helping to reshape America if he was elected. Among these was the group ACORN. That should raise some concern.
While it would be wrong to blame an entire organization for the actions of a few (the recent scandal), there have been questions about other activity. Any time taxpayer money is funding an organization and is being misused, the situation needs to be investigated.
When it comes to the issue of Jerusalem, Obama has publicly promised the people who call themselves Palestinians they should have the city. This is wrong. Jerusalem is the holy city of Jews and Christians. Jerusalem is mentioned more than 800 times in the Old and New Testaments, while it is never mentioned in the Koran. Not once.
Only in the commentaries, which were written later, is the city mentioned but not in the actual text. Muslims have Mecca and Medina as their holy cities. The president and other leaders around the world need to open their Bibles and read Joel 3:2.
Obama wants to have talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has publicly denied the Holocaust ever happened, as well as his intention to “wipe” Israel off the map.
For about seven years, Ahmadinejad has kept talks going with the United Nations while proceeding with development of nuclear weapons (we are not talking about Iraq). Does anyone remember a prime minister named Chamberlain and a person named Hitler? Some people cannot be appeased.
Besides Russia and China, others have stated they would not go along with any sanctions imposed on Iran. Recently there has been discontent for the government among the Iranian people, so perhaps it is up to them to oust that regime.
Finally, the water has been shut off to the San Joaquin valley in the Fresno, Calif., area making thousands of farmers unable to grow crops. This is because of a small fish known as the Delta Smelt Minnow, which is on the endangered species list.
Evidently it is more important to save a fish than to help farmers who provide food to the country, along with the many jobs for Americans in the process of getting that food to the public. I thought the economy was the top issue to Americans. Several appeals for the government to turn the water back on have been made, but have been struck down every time.
It is difficult to believe some of the policies and objectives of this administration and that the president would surround himself with people, not knowing their history and agendas. Is President Obama keeping company with people who think like he does? Well, he did promise change.
