The Princeton Review has picked Eastern Michigan University as one of its “Best in the Midwest” colleges for the 13th year in a row. EMU ranked highly in the sciences, the college of education, diversity and student life.
As pointed out in the press release from EMU's university communications, the 649 colleges that the Review named best are out of the 2,500 four-year colleges in the U.S. Eastern is one of 159 in the Midwest, but only schools that allow Princeton to review them are included on the list.
The Princeton Review's evaluation was not all positive, however. The Review quoted several unnamed students saying that EMU was geared towards teaching.
“Which is interesting, if not always relevant to non-education majors,” the nameless Review quote said.
That said, EMU was one of only 15 of Michigan’s 40 higher education institutions to make the cut.
Eastern has been praised in many other ways over the years. The Princeton Review also ranks business colleges and has ranked EMU's College of Business as one of the best in the country for well over a decade.
The EMU Student Center has also been highly reviewed by bestcollegereviews.org. It even beat out the University of Michigan's Michigan Union.
