EMU football 2015 schedule

The 2015 non-conference schedule has been set. Eastern Michigan University football will open at home for the third straight season, hosting Old Dominion Sept. 5. This will be the second straight season the Eagles face the Monarchs, losing to them 17-3 last year on the road.

The Eagles will travel west the following week to the University of Wyoming for the first ever matchup against the Cowboys Sept. 12 with the third week being an open date.

Returning home after the bi-week, EMU will host Army for the first time since 2012 when the Eagles defeated the Black Knights 48-38. The two teams also met in 2013 for a 50-25 Army victory, played at West Point.

EMU finishes up the non-conference schedule back out on the road to Baton Rouge to face SEC powerhouse LSU Oct. 3. Like at Wyoming, this will be the first matchup between the Eagles and the Tigers.

The conference home schedule includes Akron and Ball State each coming in to Rynearson Stadium for their first times since 2011. EMU defeated Akron 31-23 and lost to Ball State 33-31 in those matchups.

The University of Massachusetts will make its first-ever trip to EMU in the fall, as the Eagles look to avenge a 36-14 defeat at the hands of the Minutemen in Foxborough last season. Western Michigan is the final team that will visit Eagle territory in the annual battle for the Michigan MAC trophy between EMU, WMU and Central Michigan.

EMU travels to defending MAC champion Northern Illinois this season. Confidence is expected to be high with the Eagles nearly beating the Huskies last season before ultimately falling 28-17 Oct. 25.

EMU will also compete for the Michigan MAC against Central Michigan in Mt. Pleasant, the site of the last Eagles victory over the Chippewas back in 2011, 35-28. Then the team will have a swing inside the state of Ohio, traveling to Miami of Ohio to play the Redhawks for the first time since 2010, before finishing the road schedule at the University of Toledo.

The Eagles have announced that the new signees will be revealed Feb. 4.
