Student organization plans ceremony for 9/11 victims

Eastern Michigan University’s University Christian Fellowship (UCF) will be honoring the people who lost their lives in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, according to a news release.

The ceremony will take place at EMU’s 9/11 memorial, outside Pease Auditorium, at the corner of Cross and Perrin Streets. It is scheduled to begin just before 8:46 a.m. with a presentation of colors by the university’s Senior ROTC Color Guard, followed by the tolling of a bell by a student from the EMU Percussion Studio.

There will be a moment of silence and then the playing of “Taps” by the EMU Trumpet Studio.

According to the release, daisies will be given to each person attending the memorial, followed by the reading of a poem and a brief memoir. The ceremony will be closed with a benediction and a few remarks.

Those attending are asked to arrive at 8:35 a.m.
