Eastern Michigan University junior Megan McCabe is the goalkeeper for the soccer team and this week’s Eagle of the Week.
She has a 6-1-1 record for the Eagles in nine starts this season, and earned her fourth shutout of the season in the team’s Mid-American Conference opener – a 2-0 victory over Miami University-Ohio, Friday.
“That’s exciting, I’m happy to have that honor,” McCabe said after EMU’s 2-1 overtime win over Ball State University, Sunday. “All I can do is play the game I love, and work hard. It’s nice to be recognized.”
Coach Scott Hall praised McCabe after Sunday’s win.
"Some people call her average,” he said. “I've heard a lot of coaches call her average, and she is better than average.”
He added: “I can’t say enough about her.”
McCabe started all 21 games for EMU last season, notching a 1.06 goals against average – eighth in the MAC.
