Niswender was drowned

Company offers $10,000 reward for info

Details have emerged in the Niswender case as family members have told the Monroe Evening News that Julia Niswender, 23, was drowned in her bathtub.

According to the article, Niswender’s twin sister, Jennifer, said investigating police released the information that her sister died of asphyxiation due to drowning and that her body was found in the bathtub. Jennifer also said items were missing from Julia’s apartment.

“We sure hope this helps the investigation sooner rather than later,” Jennifer said.

Julia, an undergraduate student at Eastern Michigan University, was found dead Dec. 11, 2012 in her Peninsular Place apartment, located on the corner of LeForge Road and North Huron River Drive in Ypsilanti.

A $10,000 reward is being offered by Duvall Group Investigations PLLC for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for Julia’s death.

“We are hoping this new information and reward can lead to an arrest soon,” Jennifer said.

Jennifer said the company’s owner, Ryan Duvall, is a family friend and has been for many years.

“We have not hired him for his services. We are forever grateful, thankful and appreciative for the reward,” she said.

Jennifer said the Department of Homeland Security is involved in the case to help with forensics during the investigation.
